Hola amigos (Hello friends),
It's Nat once again, and I first off want to thank all of you people who continue to support me and follow my progress!!! If you don't mind me knowing who you are, please leave a post with your name and how I can get ahold of you if you don't mind me calling/ writing/visiting with you to show you how much I truly do appreciate your continued support in my recovery! I wouldn't have made it this much better without all of your great support, and I guess Al's been a pretty good boyfriend through the past almost two years of my life!!! Also, I am SO proud of all my Daemen girls, esp. Mand, Kel, Heather, and Lisa! I'm proud of you girls too Lyss and Colleen, and if I forgot someone then I'm sorry, but I'm super proud of all my friends who graduated this year!!! I love you all ALOT ALOT!!!!!

Hey everyone! This is Nat again, and I just wanted to say hi and update everyone on how I'm doing. We all just got home from 2 1/2 weeks in England, where we visited with both families. We had a great time and I think I may have surprised people (especially Aunty Ann and Uncle John) with how much better I've gotten! Yay! I'm planning on moving back to Buffalo at the end of the summer w/ Al and going back to college. I only have one semester left to graduate, but I'm only going part time and spreading it all out over a year. I'm SO pumped to be back with my Daemen girls, and this time I'll have Al there w/ me all the time, so it's the best of both worlds! Oh yes, and my best friend EVER (Alyssa Wright) will only be 45 minutes away, so I can be sure to visit w/ her LOTS. Oh yes and I can go annoy her family (who I love and they love me really)Yay! Ok that's enough about me now, leave messages about what you're doing please! Love you all!

Minor Surgeries
Nat is having plastic surgery today to improve two of her scars...it is a minor surgery so recovery hopefully won't be too bad (after what she's been through it should be a walk in the park!) Next week she will also have surgery on her toe that has been bothering her for awhile now. The Foulger clan just returned from England...I'm sure Nat will fill you in later, great to see everyone! Send Nat some good vibes today please! Love you sister!

Hey guys it's Nat-
I don't think most of you know, but I've been making most of the posts here on the blog. I'm tricky in the sense that I got the password from my Dad, and change it when I don't even think he knows I do it. For those of you in England, we all got home safely, obviously. Dad, I hope your trip is going well. Make sure you take lots of pics. to share while you're there! I'll probably be ready to start driving when you get home, so you better be ready to take me. I just gotta get Kyle and Mom to take my car in to get the tire fixed sometime soon. Thanks for planning a GREAT trip back to your homeland! I MISS AND LOVE ALL YOU ENGLISH RELATIVES ALREADY, ALOT ALOT!

Thanks
Thanks to the young doctor. It's comments like that that help me to keep going and getting better. Which hospital were you at? I was in school to be a PT and have even considered taking my MCATS to try med. school. In fact, I was planning on getting my bachelors, which I was only one semester away from (because I'm a dork and took college level classes in high school). I don't know if I could handle it now, so I'm just taking things one step at a time, which is hard for me to do. I'm enrolled in a Community college course now and hope to go back to school, at least part-time, in the fall. I'm sure there will be posts on how that all goes in the future. I have my family, awesome doctors and therapists, and my wonderful boyfriend to thank for how far I've come. I'm a strong-willed person, so I won't let this slow me down! Yes, school will be harder for me, but everything that's happened makes me want to be a part of the medical community even more, even if I am in school for twenty more years. I may have missed two years of school, but I will become involved in the medical community somehow, and a brain injury won't stop me from that! If anything, it makes me want to help other people that have gone through something like this even more.

Hey
Hey everyone!
I just wanted to say hi to you all and let you know that I'm doing great! I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year! I also hope 2008 is treating everyone well! I had a great holiday season! It was nice to be home w/ my fam. and Al (who I live with now) this year. We even had a smaall New Years party at our apartment. So this year was much better than last, except everything with you Colleen. You came through it well though, which was no big shock to me bc. you're much like me, you're a strong person. I can't wait to come to England and see everyone in the spring! Especially you Nanny! It seems like forever since we have all been there (which it has been since your wedding Uncle Guy and Aunt Terri)! I mean Tracey and Nick;s daughter was only a month old at the time and they hadn't had their son yet and now their 8 and 9. As many of you already know, we all just got back from Florida, where Becs ran the Disney marathon. She did great and even qualified for the Boston Marathon! I hope to do the same someday and I'm almost at the point where I can start running again, thanks to my great therapists at St. Camilus and the ones at Sunyview (which I go back to in a month)! I'm taking a cooking course at JCC in the Spring and hope to be back at Daemen in the fall, at least part time. I won't be running yet, but from what I read, it's a miracle that I can walk good and eat on my own! Anyways, I'm doing great and can start driving again right after I take the course and test in Rochester (which is where one of my best friends-Alyssa- and her family live)! Alright well I hope you all have a great year and thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. You've helped me get where I am today and where I hope to be a year from now!!

New Watertown Times articles
The Watertown Times recently ran two new articles about Natalie and her best friend Coleen. The articles appeared in the Sunday November 11th and Monday November 12th editions, and were featured on the front pages of each edition. The articles were promoted in advance with the picture and text shown below, which ran on friday and saturday. I scanned the articles themselves into 8 pictures, which you can link to here:

Hi guys! I hope everything is going well for everyone! I just got back from visiting our friends in Canada with my parents. It's not long now until we go to NYC with the whole family. Me, my mom, Becs, and Ashley are going to see The Lion King on Broadway, which will be a lot of fun. I can't wait for it! Love you all!

One Year Later
She believed she could, so she did! An appropriate theme as we celebrate Nat's determination, hard work, and survival. Thanks to all for your continued support, love and prayers for Nat. A special thanks to all of the rescue workers, doctors, nurses, and therapists who have brought Nat back to us. Most of all...to Nat: ONE YEAR LATER, STILL OUR HERO, WE LOVE YOU.

continues progress
Natalie continues to amaze her family, friends, and therapists with her improvements in all areas of recovery.
She is actually camping this weekend with Becca, Kyle, Al, and Ashley (Kyle's girlfriend). She was excited to be going away and shopped with Becca and Kyle for supplies at the store. I suspect she is glad to be away from her parents for the first time in almost a year!
We have just had a great visit from Marc's parents, his brother Guy, and wife Terri from England. They were here for 10 days and attended therapy sessions with Nat and were amazed at her strength and drive to improve. Natalie even read in church on the weekend they were here and danced to a band at one of the restaurants we were at. Grandma commented as they were leaving that Nat had improved since the begining of their stay.
Natalie continues with her therapy three times a week at St. Cammillus, in Syracuse. The big difference in her routine is now, whoever drives her to therapy simply sees her to the gym and leaves. Nat is working with her therapists to gain 100% independance. She works on daily living skills, (including baking, which we all get to sample!) problem solving and of course physical therapy.
Natalie still has a passion for running, and in speech therapy has devised a work out schedule and training program for our neighbor Stacey to train and run a 5K. Nat will be her trainer and track her progress on the computer to share with her speech therapist.
Physical therapy is where Nat's driven, determined personality shines. she is strengthening her core muscles, as well as her ankles, and is working on her gait. She rarely uses her chair now prefering to walk. Becca and I once again feel very short around Nat as her posture is so good she towers over us once again.
At the moment every day seems to bring another achievement in Nat's progress. As you all know she is an amazing young lady that has endured unimaginable pain and suffering. As we approach the one year mark I can honestly say "our Natalie" has achieved more than our family could have ever hoped or dreamed of.
Once again thank you for your continued support for Natalie and our family.

Natalie's walking skills have improved a great deal. She is now walking stronger and more independently than before!
She is doing great in all of her therapy sessions at Saint Camillus.
Natalie is now aware of the accident and can even recall the events leading up to present time. Her short term memory continues to improve along with her comprehension levels!

New update + news article
I had the pleasure of visiting the Foulger family this past weekend. Although my visit was very brief I was absolutely amazed at the progress I noticed in Natalie. I can honestly say that Nat is starting to look and act like Nat again. The rate of her progress amazes everyone but this weekend really shocked me.
Natalie's comprehension levels have vastly improved thanks to the family as well as therapy staff at Saint Camillus. I was able to sit in a room with the family and have a conversation where Natalie was a contributer. I would ask Becca a question and Nat would chime in with "Why did you ask that" or something witty. She was also able to recall jokes she had heard days before without hesitation. This, of course, is a very big deal because she had been having such trouble with her short term memory. Her alertness was remarkable. The family would ask her to repeat long complex sentences which she was able to do with ease. This weekend really re-opened my eyes to Natalie's excellent progress.
Along with this wonderful news comes another article from Norah Machia of the Watertown Daily Times!
Thank you all for continuing to support Natalie and the family through the rehabilitation period!

An At Home Update
Natalie has been attending outpatient care at Saint Camillus Hospital. Three days a week she receives physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.
Due to the wonderful weather in Watertown she had to miss a few of her sessions but has been attending whenever possible. She is currently feeling a bit under the weather which caused her to pass on today's therapies.
Please be aware the visitor policy remains the same because Natalie is currently adjusting to her new surroundings and will need to take her time and be around familiar faces.
I will update the blog with more news shortly - Keep up the great work, Nat!
