Answering questions

The address for the Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital is available on the website, which is linked at the right side of the blog.

1270 Belmont Avenue
Schenectady, NY 12308

Natalie will follow verbal commands on and off. She has not been squeezing hands every time she is asked to but sometimes will respond. This is no better nor worse than her ability to follow verbal commands was a few weeks after the accident, but because of the other actions she has been able to perform, improvement is definitely existent.

Dear Natalie's family,
My name is Gretchen Rowland and my son, Jimmy Yonkovig, suffered a traumatic brain injury on Nov.10, 2005 in Watertown. He spent 42 days at University Hospital in Syracuse before transfering to Sunnyview on Dec. 23. I was absolutely thrilled with the care he recieved at Sunnyview and I sincerely hope that you will be also. My son entered Sunnyview without being able to follow commands, and basically was non-responsive. The best advice I can give to all of you is to hang in there, be involved as much as possible and have faith and patience. NEVER GIVE UP!!!! My son is now a resident of Samaritan Keep Home for the time being. He talks beautifully with a servox (artificial larynx), will be walking on his own next week, is totally continent, and, hopefully will be coming home in the spring. We were very fortunate to be blessed with wonderful family and friends (and many caring strangers) who gave generously to the fundraisers organized for my son. All I can tell you is to accept whatever help is offered graciously and humbly because you know in your hearts that you would do the same for someone else in the same situation and people who care about you just want to help in any way they can.....let them. Natalie WILL get better...never think otherwise. I never allowed myself to think that I wouldn't get my son "back" no matter what anyone said and he is proving that to me more each day. We've been on this ride for 11 months and had no real communication from Jimmy until July 4th when he finally "woke up", started talking and writing to us and it's been onward and upward since then. My motto was always "that which doesn't kill us can only make us stronger" and that every tomorrow is a wonderful gift...make the most of it. We had many setbacks, which is to be expected, but never under estimate the strength of your daughter...these kids are amazing!!! If you ever need someone to talk to, my cell phone is always with me...315-783-4086. Your daughter is absolutely beautiful, you should be so very proud of her!! I'll keep you in my prayers. Hi Foulger Family! I've been reading everyday and following up on Natalie! I'm so happy to hear that she is progressing so nicely. Nat is so strong, and every day that I read up I always think to myself, I would never make it through what you guys are or what she is going through. I would fall apart but you have got to be one the strongest families i've ever known. I have so many people asking me her status everyday (people that don't even know her) they always say " give her family my best and tell them we are praying for them all" that just shows how many people Natalie has touched. You guys are amazing. Keep being strong, and never give up. Things will turn around before you know it. Once again, you're in my hearts and prayers everyday.

Love AlWAYS,
Sara Bulger

It was a pleasure working with Natalie, while she has been here at University Hospital. I loved working with her and her family. I wish her well as she is transfered to Sunnyview in Schenectady. Our thoughts and prayers go with Natalie and her family.
