Minor Setback

Today's post is from Natalie's father:

"Yesterday Nat vomited several times, so doctors immediately stopped her tube feeding for a while. When they tried to restart it last night she vomited again, and did so again later in the night. This morning she was still retching, so her stomach was x-rayed again. It turns out that the feeding tube had completely pulled out of position somehow, and the end of it is now all the way up in her throat, which is causing her to continue to gag even though the feed is off. Tomorrow doctors will use a small internal camera to try to properly replace her feeding tube past the blockage and into her intestine again. If this works she could be ready for transfer to rehab within another 24 hours. If it does not work they will likely perform another procedure where a feeding tube is brought through a new opening directly below the blockage. Nat would need about 2 days to recover from that procedure, so she could still go to rehab later this week."

Thanks for the update, Marc!

Wow, what great news/progress, Terri and I (Marc's other brother in the UK) have just got back from a weekend away. This is fantastic news, a slight set back with the feeding but I am sure this is just one more hurdle to climb. I am sure Nat must have loved to see the pictures of Stormy.

I wish we could be there to take part in the run it sounds like the atmosphere on the day will be excellent. Running is something that Nat is so passionate about.

Once again many thanks Mike for keeping this blog, it is our link to Nat and Marc, Tina, Beccca and Kyles condition/status. To start with we had an excellent phone tree in process - Marc to our brother in Canada (Al) to Miles, Marc's parents or myself in the UK. But this blog puts across the information first hand, quickly and with the ability to add detailed links for further reading.

I would also like to say thank you to everyone organizing the run, for the donations, for the laundry service, hotel bookings etc.. Whilst you are helping Nat and co directly you are also helping all of Nat's extended family back in the UK with the kind of support you just can not provide when thousands of miles away.

Regards to Ann to, we met again recently after many years when Tina was in the UK this summer.

Excellent to hear your progress Nat, keep on fighting each day at a time and I hope you like the new location when you move.

Lots of Love

(uncle)Guy & Terri

Hi Tina, Marc, Rebecca, Kyle, Natatlie and Auntie Ann - been on school holidays for a fortnight, so have just got back to read the blog, photocopy it for Pete and the girls so they are up to date. Everything is sounding really good, I really wish we could do more, but you know that we think about you all day, everyday. Thanks heaps Mike for this blog, I hope one day we will meet up and we can all thank you personally (maybe you and Bec can come to Australia one day). Take care. All our Love - Denise, Peter, Kate and Laura XXXXX

Dear Marc, Tina and family
Try not to get too discouraged. It must be difficult having things changing back and forth so often. You and the family have so much support. Take care of yourselves. Nat will need all of you healthy and rested!!!! Good Luck
Joanne
